Batch renamer

Hey guys,
I've got 1000s of files that need to be renamed from numeric sequences to chromatic ones i.e. from "xxx_01", "xxx_02"... to "xxx_c", "xxx_c#" for a big multi sample library I'm doing atm. Are there any ways of doing this automatically.
Please help me save hoooours on this. Thanks so much!

On Mac I use "A Better Finder Rename" which is quite sophisticated.

You can set up a sequence of renaming rules and then save that as a "droplet", which is a desktop icon that will run that set of rules onto anything dropped on it. This way you could set up one rule that's "replace the text "-001" with the text "-c#2"" and another that's "replace -002 with -d2" etc.

yup, this +100…. once you figure out how it works and set up some scripts it can be a massive time saver! (sounds like someone was using it for converting certain sample banks to exs24 format )

There's also the free Name Changer for Mac:
MRR Software

On the Mac it's also worth looking into Automator. Great for many other things besides renaming.
Youtube is a good place to start to get into Automator.

Not sure if you need another suggestion for mac but Name Mangler (formerly File List - which was a much better name!) is very reliable, powerful and always does what I want it to do.

Another very good renamer for Win, though it's not free. Definitely worth the purchase, though.
