Pro Tools & Mbox Pro 3 on MACBOOK PRO 2.93 Intel 2 Duo Core.... work?

Hey all,

Thanks for any and all help, I have searched this topic and not found any info here, Avid DUC or anywhere... so thanks!

Thinking of doing a mobile rig and want to know if anyone is running Pro Tools 11 with an Mbox Pro 3 (or any other) on an older Macbook Pro 2.93 GHz Intel Duo 2 Core?

Thanks!

Maybe, depends on the OS requirements, and if you want to run the latest and greatest.

Mavericks is probably the last OS that will support some Core2Duo machines.
Some Core2Duo machines were cutoff with Mavericks.

Don't expect much processing power for effects and instruments.

I did my CD on a Black Macbook, during the mixing process, I had to freeze and bounce tracks to get projects to play.

My current quad i7 MBP has about the same CPU power of an early 2008 MP 8-core.

Most likely an older version of OSX and PT will be better suited for that vintage of machine.

Thank you for the help... soudns like my older Powerbook would be underpowered. Bummer. Idon't feel like constantly trying to fight Pro Tools' settings. I need to just record, play and edit without a hitch.

Of the newer Macbook Pros, any recommendations or are they all powerful enough?

Thanks again!

I suggest the 15-inch Macbook pro they are all quad core i7, huge difference in power compared to the dual core Mac laptops.

Check out the Logic benchmark thread, it uses Logic to compare the power of various models of Macs.
