I use the G-Raid they have various configurations (single, raid, ssd) The new generation runs with thunderbolt. Amazon and the Apple store have them take a peek.

I have the 4T G-Raid. I took off the optical drive and adapt a Sata to eSata cable so it run faster than Firewire now I have fast data transfer and the Firewire port for my interface.
There is an other option: get the optical driver adapter to hard or ssd driver kit @ OtherWorldComputer. It allows you to take out the CD driver and install a second hard driver in your laptop. I choose the G-Raid because the space per price ratio deal at Amazon. So... There you go, options. WE LOVE OPTIONS.
