This is a great idea. Let´s just hope the execution will be as good as the idea. So please...

- Fast release, not like with VTM
- Stable and snappy, no flimsy or buggy
- Options, options, and options. Sidechain, noise on/off, AB or ABCDEFGH (like DMG Equilibrium), color on/off, mix knob dry/wet and so on... Please don´t be religious to the analog counterparts, time to embrace the digital age

They both are invaluable channel tools
and in times of high fequency shrillness the LP filter must be within hands reach.
There is a HP in the pic.

Steven, while we are waiting, can you elaborate on the varius type of vca compressor you based the fg116 on? SSL, DBX, other?
Thanks

Steven, a VMR "Trigger 2 gate" modul would be very cool.

Steven it would be fun to have a "random" button which would reorganize each module randomly, so that we could come across configurations we didn't didn't expect to work and sound good!

Yeah - I'd be interested to know what the inspirations for the comps were. Will there be plenty of presets to use as starting points? The CLA preset on the Red comp on the VBC is my go to option!

The black one is a fet, kind of a 16 (+ 60).

Nice addition to the Slate product line.
If understand this correctly, VTM/VCC will be later a part of this rack?

No, the black one is based on multiple VCA compressors, whereas the red one is based on the 1176 with a transformer mod.

You should use a conditional form when you don't know .

At first I thought it was the black one two, because it kinda look like a slate dragon, and the fet do looks like a little devil comp. that's a little bit weird to choose those looks, but if it sounds great, I can live with that

Sorry, didn't understand the meaning of that sentence.

It's written on the page, I didn't invent it.

Maybe there's an error in the descriptions on Slate's website, the two compressors may have been inverted. Cause "FG-116" is clearly a clue saying there's a famous FET under the hood.

It looks a little bit like mistake to me. Judging by the look and description - FG-116 should be FET (1176 / Dragon) and FG-401 reminds me of Focusrite Red, which if my memory serves is VCA.

Or maybe it is a genius design to force us not to hear what we see..

I had so many people tell me that the black one should be the FET style and the red one should be the VCA that I think I'm gonna switch them. There are also some twists to the VCA algorithm that have turned out amazing and also will make the vintage look of the module more fitting. I'll reveal those twists soon with some actual audio examples which will be more fun than talking about them.

Cheers,
Steven

I would also prefer the option of no rack...

Very excited about this one. Just hope it's not too CPU-heavy because it looks like a plugin I'mma use on a lot of channels.
