Oh cool - I wasn't aware that the T-Racks plugins were housed inside a modular thing (never used them before).

The FG-S is a recreation of the 242 circuit including mid band interactivity, harmonic generation from the amplifier, etc. The FG-116 Modern Comp is a very close model to the classic British console channel compressor but it has a sweeter top end when you hit it harder making it a bit more versatile, and it also has a wider range of timings.. also making it more versatile. It can get very punchy, very pumpy, and even pretty darn smooth. I double up both comps on vox doing a bit of work on each.. it's gorgeous sounding. And if you didn't see the video, the FG-401 has tonality from both the classic FET limiter mixes with some Class A British transformers.

We've got a lot of new modules in que.

Thanks for the warm reception. I've started an official thread in the AES forum and will be continuing the conversation there.

Cheers,
Steven

I would try any of these from slate but would prefer to have them continue to push the envelop and not just give us the same old simulations we have many times over already.

This may be a stupid question, but where would I find the AES forum and the official thread. Maybe one should be made here as well?

STOKED about this one.

Thanks!

Also, Nomad Factory has the Magma virtual rack plugin, which you can also host third party plugins in as well apparently.

I don't really get the advantage of loading plugins in a separate rack plugin...you can do this in your DAW already...

Also, in the video, it seemed as though the VCC pic had a space for the long-promised 6th console.

I really hope this doesn't turn into the kind of wait VBC had. That being said, I'm very excited about this release.

Interesting to hear Slate talking about the benefits of having all your plugs in front of you at once, however obviously you still have to switch to use the other plugs in your chain. I feel Live and the upcoming Bitwig have solved this issue nicely by giving you the "device" pane at the bottom where you can put all the factory effects in a row and not have to switch between windows when you want to tweak multiple things; that's actually one of my favorite things about Live.

The annoying thing, of course, is that it only works with the factory plugs. However I don't see why it couldn't work with most plugs that weren't too complex if there were a plug standard that let the plug give enough info to the host so that it could display the proper types of knobs and selectors in its own skin. So you could interact with all your plugs in that simple manner, but beyond that it would allow the host to make sure that the plugs always have a usable interface no matter what you are using to control them, be it mouse, touch or stylus etc, and no matter how your screen is sized. This might get to be a big as tablets become more powerful and more of an factor in the market, especially for musicians who record themselves. Some things I'm sure Slate has thought about.

It'd be interesting to hear a plug makers take on this. Is this something that could be possible or you would be interested in, Slate? I suppose you might lose out a bit on awing your customers with those industry leading guis though.
