Cubase 5 mix console turns white

I have had this issue with Cubase for quiet awhile. Even when I have plenty of CPU and memory resources I get this white haze over my mix console when I try to lasso or move an event. Sometimes it will go away. Other times it just stays that way and I have to keep reloading the program.

I'm using a 6 core mac 12g ram with separate 2tb hard drives for system, files and samples. Original video card and two monitors. 3 UAD duos

Any idea why this is happening?

Cubase 5 is....5 years old?

Maybe you should consider updating.

Besides this white screen issue I have no reason to upgrade.

I can run a stable system with 70 tracks+ 3 samplers etc. I can run as low as 64 samples latency. I know the software inside and out, don't need any of the new bells and whistles AND headaches of an upgrade. With 3 UAD duo cards I have no reason to need any other plugs that would require a newer version.

I would love to work around this issue and I'm more than happy to stay with this machine and software as long as possible.

Your video card may be crapping out. On windows machines, sometimes, after doing security updates or patches I have had some strange video issues, but I don't know if Mac is the same. Make sure there isn't a more current vid card driver that you can try.

.
Also, there maybe an issue if you installed the latest version of UAD software that is conflicting with something else that may need to be updated as well.

Just a thought.
