Arrow Which version of OSX do you run on your DAW?

Quite interested to see which OSX version people are mainly running their DAW's on. Partially out of interest and partially for support in an upcoming app. I was thinking most people would be on 10.7 or above by now, but maybe not.

Might as well chip in with which sequencer you're running too.

Sure it is, LP 9.1.8 and OSX 10.6.8 is a good stable place to sit if you're not ready for LPX.

Yes I guess you're right, I just couldn't imagine being 4 OSX versions behind really. Snow Leopard was a great release though and Mavericks is to Lion and Mountain like what Snow Leopard was to Leopard. Can't say ive ever faced any incompatibilities in upgrading any OSX though. Looking forward to running Logic X on Mavericks though.

I think a lot of us still running 'old' mac pros are stuck on snow leopard. Not that I mind - My DAW's and converters run flawlessly with the combo so why change at this point... however we'll see how the new mac pro's and haswell mini's look towards the end of the year. I may make the jump.

I'm happy with 10.6.8 - but I don't use *any* sequencers. I use Pro Tools. I'm a recording engineer, not a player... and I work 95% with acoustic musicians.

10.6.8 is so stable I'm content not to "upgrade" on the hardware I have.
At first the only downside was lack of Sound Forge, but Adobe Audition works and with the spectral editing and flac import I've gained a better (for my needs) editor.

Snow Leopard is for Apple what XP was for Microsoft.

I'm happy with my 10.6.8 PTHD rig.
My day job is mixing records and not upgrading computers though.

YMMV.

That would be my take on it too. 10.6.8 was the line drawn in the sand for a lot of the older hardware out there that is still perfectly useable.

I was still running SL up until the launch of PT11. Software updates dictate OS updates for me. If the DAW or software I'm using requires a more modern OS, then I upgrade. If not, I stay put.

Out of interest, how old are these mac pros? Not PPC units I assume?

Of course, brain freeze, the first intel units - PPC went with the G5 moniker.
