Hope this helps someone else. I was having trouble w/ audio drop outs on my Dell desktop (i7/4 gigs of RAM). After adjusting various things suggested on several websites (e.g. high performance mode, disabling system sounds, processor scheduling) - I came across DPC latency checker. I didn't have any luck running it the way the manual suggested, however, bringing up Ableton and playing several VIs then switching various drivers on and off I finally found it! It was my LAN card. My PC is now ridiculously fast - I'm talking 88.2 kHz w/ a 64 buffer setting. Latency is no longer a problem, and I'm so pumped right now!!!!!!
