Looks more like it's for people who miss the form factor of the old xserve, and want to make their mac minis work in that environment. After all, they can compare favourably to the mac pros of a few years ago, it's just the connectivity options that are the real limitation, and thunderbolt may be the solution to that.

Here for the gear

I wish my mini had thunderbolt (bought it last year), because I have a UAD Duo card kicking around that i would be able to incorporate to my setup using the Rackmac. Depending on the price, i may upgrade my mac mini and get one of these...

This looks sweet! This would make me want to get a Mac Mini for the studio instead of a PC

Fantastic lets hope they dont kill it price wise, i reckon we will start to see more thunderbolt enclosures with expansions options. I7 mac mini is just nuts (in a good way off course)

This looks great for a mobille rig too! You could rack it and some pres and an interface and a harddrive in one case. Add monitor and peripherals and you're ready to go.

Anyone tried this solution yet? Could be pretty cool with a HD native card for a mobile setup.
