what are the benifits of rewiring?

If I was rewiring let's say reason in a daw like pro tools on an 8 core machine with 8 gigs of ram would I be able to access 4 cores and 4 gigs of ram in pro tools and use the rest for windows 7 and reason? Or would I still be limited by pro-tools?

What other bennifits are there to rewiring?

And can you re-wire mashine while its in stand alone mode? Or does it have to be used as a plug in?

And if you can rewire mashine would it still be able to host vst fx even if its re-wired to pro tools?

Anyone?
I don't know much about it as I've never needed to use it.

I have to sell everything I have (for money reasons) and take a break for a little while so I'm on a quest for musical knowledge so I can come back bigger and better when I can afford to replace my studio, so i'd apreciate any input
