Stage-grade USB gear for live performances

Greetings to all!

Question: can anyone recommend some rugged stage grade equipment in the realms of USB cables and USB hubs?

Finding reasonably high-grade (not "high end" audiophille stuff- just good solid equipment that does what it's supposed to do) USB equipment seems to be bizarrely difficult given the widespread use of it. Heck, finding reasonably decent Firewire cables isn't too hard if you know where to look.

But for some reason, I've never been able to find a solid USB hub nor any USB cables of any reasonable grade. More often then not, the hubs are plastic and cheap enough that they'll happily crack or break if they get accidentally dropped. Cables are usually bloody thin and rarely ruggedized at all- we've found that standard USB cables from Monoprice or similar don't last that long as they are certainly not resistant to any kind of stage abuse (like a mic stand being dropped on 'em).

XLR cables, MIDI cables, everything else you can find ruggedized and reasonably stage-ready if you're willing to pay for it. However, USB stuff just seems to go straight from consumer to "audiophille", and I'm not too inclined to pay $1500 for a designer cable from WireWorld (even that stuff doesn't look too rugged- but I hear it'll arrange the bits inside the cable to make classical music more spatial and defined for you though. That was a joke, by the way...).

Yes, I carry around spares with me, but it's still superbly annoying when the spares run out and the only place that carries cables in town is either closed or a 30 minute drive away. Rearranging the stage because the only cables you have left are 10ft instead of the fancy 30+ft extenders is never fun.

So, I'm wondering if any of you fellow GS'ers have any suggestions for some good rugged USB stuff.

Cheerio.
