G5 with 2 Displays question

I recently upgraded to a G5/2.0 with an Apple 20“ display. I hooked up my second 17" Sony display that sits in the live room in the basement, so I'm synchronizing the 2 monitors.
However, I can't get both displays to work at optimum level. If the 17" display is o.k, then I'll have a 'bent' view on the 20" or just a 17'' picture with black surroundings.

My question: Is it possible to get 'full' view on both monitors with just the Apple graphics card? I do have a spare Village Tronic graphics card that I used for working with 2 17'' displays on my old G4.

I just want to be sure I didn't miss anything before I install the card.

Thanks for any help!

I have a ATI 850 XT mac edtion card.
Check the specs and reviews.heh
I want it to swap with someone for a standard G5 card.(I'm only using one monitor)
The reason for this is that my computer is in my control room and the fan on the card is a bit noisy.
Location Is Belgium.
