I recommend getting all you want from Cupwise. Great developer, he is still active, and he updates the libraries sometimes.
BEE X-20 is great! So natural sounding.
Has anybody compared the UAD Ampex to CDSoundmaster's one?

Not yet. Vocal sessions are very slow-going. I can mix down some tracks without vocals though and send them your way if you're interested. Just send me a PM.

Friends, I can't use some Timp's and Cupwise's libraries in Nebulaman: No configuration options (except Input & Output).
Am I doing something wrong or are those libraries not compatible with Nebulaman?

Only the native libs and Henry Olonga work fine in Nebulaman

I already have quite a few of his stellar EQs.

I have Vari Level and bought L-Bus recently.
Wondering which compressor I should get next.
Any suggestions for must haves?
I work on electronic music primarily....

There is NebulaMan 2 Release Candidate 1 available on Zabukowski Software webpage. Major new feature is VST2 support, so you can easily load N4 inside it.

Time limited development license can be found on Acustica forums.

Cheers!

Thanks! Great advice, picked up the 9K Console and started using it with tunes that could use some punch and it's a keeper for sure. The Punch preset on the Main Buss really brings out those drum hits - bass drum and snare.

Those 2 are so great. I really love the sound.

Now I need to get something new from Timothy.

I have :
J37
T-Tape
U76
Opto 3a
Large Tea Room
Silk 259b
Valley-People Dyna-mite (TNT)

As stated, Im extremely satisfied by both the 1176 and La2a and 3a from him.
I also love his Seimen 259b. It's in every session for sure.
His Nagra T-Tape and Studer J37 are also used a lot and im very satisfied.
The TNT didnt cut it for me as I have the hardware and it does not make my drum punch like my unit. Tim's rendering still is interesting but maybe its a former or newer model and does not get use in the same way at all.

Now I've tried a lot of different SSL mix buss comp and most of them didnt work as intended for me. Will his L-Buss be any better ?

I've havent heard any comparison with SAND or SSL duende so far.

I'm a color seeker.

What would you suggest I get from him ?

I really like L-Bus, better than Sand and the UAD mkII in my opinion.

I would get that or Surge.

Surge is a EQ I have for some time now, and still haven't found any other that does what it does.

As with @SameOh, L-BUS and Surge are two of my most used TimP libraries.

Check out Vari-Level and Sum100A, two great vocal comps. I use Vari Level more than Sum100A, great at levelling out a vocal and bringing it forward (rock/hip hop especially).

A really NICE comp ... BLU-MU

In the last several mastering projects, the BLU-MU did a wonderful job.

'Some' compressors have a tendency to accentuate the high end of a mix ... something I did NOT want.

The BLU-MU just beefs-up and holds the track. Very nice

[note: the Vari-mu reference ... I was on my first cup of coffee ... i intended to speak of the BLU-MU. My apologies
for any unintended action.]

going for my 2nd cup :|

I'm already very satisfied with cupwise Flucti-mu.

I have tried it with my altec 436 at low level compression and really bring all I need in that aspect.

As a guitar player I'm just a sucker for all things springy

Jpn just made N4 skins for his reverbs too, so seemed like a no-brainer at that price, regardless of the current sale.

I can never get this thing not to pump no matter what I use it on. Help me on time constants, or what I should be listening for?

If you mean the BLU-MU ?

Well ... as with most any COMP ... ATTACK, RELEASE are critical. Thee is also a built-in Filter.

As to 'pumping'. I have my approach to set up compression, and it starts WITH deliberate pumping. But that 'pumping' is tied to the pulse/energy of the 2-mix track. Starting with very high RATIO [10+:1], very Fast ATTACK & Release [watch for distortion], and a Low Threshold to get plenty of compression.

From there I open the ATTACK to allow the start of transients through. Adjust the RELEASE to time with the music pulse.

From there, the Ratio is brought more realistic [usually 1.5-> 3 :1]. Then back up the THRESHOLD to the desired reduction level [typical 1dB].

Now in the ballpark ... fine tuning.

Of course im not sure but the latest version has a inverse exponential slowing of release which really shouldn’t be pumping. Feel free to contact me.

It's almost certainly user error. I don't have any experience with hardware mus; the typical slowest attack, fastest release then adjust to taste didn't really help me dial things in (notice RJ started with quickest attack ) More of a learning curve for neophytes. I felt the same with Cupwise's Flucti-Mew.
