I want to. But, I've already got Tim P's Neve 31102 and CdSoundmaster's Neve 1084. So, I'm thinking that it may be kind of a redundant purchase. Do you have any thoughts as to the tonal differences between these (N14, Blue 1102, and CdSoundmaster's 1084)?

Plus, I want to get (EDIT: Just purchased) Tim P's Dualtech, Studer J37, and a Solid spring reverb library. He has a sale going on, too.

I took your advice. Has anyone ever told you that you are a bad influence?

Now, I've got another color in my palette. Hopefully, I'm done buying stuff for a few years.

Hehehe..cheers mate. It will be very useful. Every console i bought from AlexB, it gets used in all my projects.

Now, get MFC, R88 and 9KC..you’re done for 10 more years hehehe (just joking).

I use R88 input/mic and coupled it with 9KC or MFC..ozz with tubey goodness, clarity, superb stereo width and punch :P

And since you bought Dual Tech, use the Fat 3K Clipper on your master and tweak to taste.

R88 or N14 input/mic to MFC or 9KC, Lime Comp C & Fat 3K Clipper...boommmmm!!!!

Anyway, do feel free to join us on AA fan page @ https://www.facebook.com/groups/703927439766698/

LOL. I think I'm set. But, I did almost buy that 9KC. I mean, in a world of Neves, who really even needs an SSL? I'm just joking. It's gonna take me a long while to learn the tools that I currently have.

Thanks for the tip on using that Fat 3K clipper. I'll give it a shot.

As a guitar player, thinking of the GTR VTX programs, anyone recommend? I have Henry Olonga Amps so will VTX add anything?

Hi,
hope someone has some experience with Surge, Silk (Rstate D) - all Tim Petherick eq offerings.
Unfortunately there is no silk demo... to just at least hear the general sound of it.
I could hear a bit with the help of the limited demo of Surge and Rstate (Surge seems at least denser and bigger I would say)
Between the two which one could really help in channels and the masterbus for just correcting things without changing too much the texture that is already given.
Or maybe you can just report what you use them for, their strengths ....

thanks in advance and regards

I don't see any discount at the prices there. Is there any coupon the we have to use?

edit* Actually by clicking the "BUY" button it redirects you directly to Paypal, so there is not a chance to add a coupon.
So, I don't think there is any Cyber Monday Sale there..

At last CDS sale a month ago, you had to email him for discount and he responds quickly. Try that I reckon

Thanks, but my point is not to ask a favour - is to buy the stuff during an official sale.

You should contact him if you want to get in on the sale. There is obviously some kind of issue. And, he may not even know that there is a problem. When I looked earlier, every program that I saw was marked down to half of what is currently displayed.

Thanks, I'm gonna contact him then. Wanting to buy the ACQ-560, as I see that it is the only one Api560 on Nebula world.

*Oh God.. what a synchronicity... I just saw that this is my 560 number of posts here.... hehehe

Errmmmmm Analog In The Box has an API 550B EQ with preamp and I think AlexB has an API 550A EQ library (there's probably an API in his preamp color suite as well). There are also some API pre libraries in HO's AYCE package, and I'm guessing a preamp is included with Cupwise Lunchpail (API 2500).

Thanks a lot! AlexB's preamp color suite has it too.

Did anyone compare nebula preamps with for example Warm Audio or Golden Age preamps? Would buying something cheaper like that make much difference or should I save for a Great River? It feels like a good Neve or API nebula should sound better than a Warm Audio. I don't know.

Tough to describe the SP79 [at the moment] ... without over characterizing, it sounds like a Record.

....
Hi,

can you tell me if the SP79 comes with an eq (you say partnered EQ) or do you mean the W95B or W95S that you can purchase seperately?

Many thanks in advance!

And another opinion wanted:
Those who have the Tim Petherick Surge and the Alex B W95B: How do these compare and are they very similar sounding?

Many thanks!

I have Silk and a bunch of other eq libraries, too. I use Surge for exactly what you are talking about. Vocals. Master Bus. It sounds great. I track with a fairly clean tube preamp that gives everything a sort of sweet, warm sound with soft edges. Audio honey.

Tonally, Surge just sort of focuses in and solidifies the edges of the picture, making the audio less blurry and more defined. It's even doing all this with even minus -2 db cuts in the midrange. I like Surge because it's clean, but gives a "harder" sound (sharper transients, with a more defined picture). Diamonds. Plus, Surge is more versatile than lots of other eq libraries.

I was referring to the separate EQ's. For my work, I've used the W95S [which is the Stereo version of the Neumann W495].

I downloaded the N4 trial.

I thought it was OK, but it only comes with compressors and preamps,
and my ear for both of those is underdeveloped.

I also have no experience with hardware and only recognize the most popular names.

But I can tell with the acqua plugs that the EQs are the best I've heard, and so I am drawn to AA.

So I wonder, will I find much value in nebula if I don't recognize the gear being emulated?

Are the eq's as great as the Acqua ones? If so, its a no brainer, right? But if N4 is as good as the acqua plugs, why create the plugs at all? More features?

If N4 is just as good, the price for what you get in N4 compared to the acqua plugins is a source of much confusion for me; why is N4 not 20x more expensive?

Need enlightenment.

1st ... N-4 trial DOES offer some EQ's to evaluate. Kindly put ... they only infer to the sonics, and completeness of 3rd Party offerings.

ACQUA and N-4 have different design strategy/workflow ... but are based on the same CORE engines.

Additional point. As each piece of Hardware has its own 'sound' [various reasons, including age, restorations, redesigns, etc.], so too are
the N-4 Libraries and ACQUAs. Example: I have at least 5 or 6 Pultec EQ's [N-4 Libraries] from various DEV's and several ACQUAs. They all have the Pultec sound ...
yet they are each unique. This is another example of what sets AA technology apart from the typical 'algo' design. Rather than 'mathematical formulas' describing the various unit components, ACQUAs and N-4 'sound' is derived from sampling the actual hardware. The AA technology does allow the programmer to modify/enhance
the samples [sometimes to improve S/N ratios], however, the base hardware is the sonic source that becomes an ACQUA or N-4 Library. Additional factor would be the Dev themselves, and the techniques they use to create/build/organize said Library.

does that stir the imagination

Nebula 4 is single instance only and 11 years in the making, Acqua's were AA's answer for a more normal workflow plugin demanded by Nebula users and are 3 years old. Both use the same Nebula engine but each Acqua is a multi Nebula plugin fine tuned for the best performance.

There are close to 30 Acqua's but we have hundreds of Nebula libraries with extensive preamp, mics, reverb libraries give us a lot of options. Please do not base you sole Nebula experience on the AA demo libraries, the real gem for Nebula is the 3rd party libraries and of of the best is huge and be had for free now. The developer stopped making libraries almost 2 years back and it's now free. I would pay for it again for some of the libraries and almost every Nebula user can vouch for it's quality.... unfortunately I don't believe there are any parts of it that work with the Nebula free.

I have the Analogue In The Box (AITB) Doc Fear community version, it may play on Nebula free, it helped convince me to take the Nebula path, but to each their own. I'll load a few others that my work with Nebula free to dropbox and send PM you a link.

Sounds like I can experience some of this hardware after all. For better or worse depending on the Dev.
Thanks!

Wow, OK. I get it. I'm definitely interested in checking out some other stuff on N4 free. Perhaps the AA site going down today will work out in my favor.
Thanks for all the help today!
