Hey!
What about TimP CadPad? Is it just a regular panner? Whats the catch here? Does it saturate?
Also - any love for Blue Mu?

CadPad is a channel strip without EQ's basicly.

I think its a Cadac Strip.

It's a VERY dense and dark one. I think its most colored strip I've tried so far.
Very interesting to start polishing those digital harschness.

Recommended.

Oh and there's a SIN/SAW/Square auto pan function which is very cool.

The sin is verrrrrrryyy Smooth

Just got the CadPan and the Focus Comp.
Man, those two together! I can get some really dark and gritty tones with nice texture. The focus comp preamp is amazing!

Also, the panner in the cad pan for some reason sounds more organic than stock Daw panner. It might be placebo thou.

Have not tried the auto pan yet, but I am fan of auto panning stuff, like brauer motion.

What's a good mastering compressor for N4?
I have a real API2500 in my rack, but I don't really like it for mastering, so I'm looking to try some Nebula comps for that purpose.
Thanks!

We have so many compressors because each is different. Each has a different effect on your tone. Depends on your taste, musical style and your own aesthetic.

But start your exploring with Violet which is free with N4. Not at all like a 2500.

Oh and why stop at just 1 compressor?

I haven’t yet tested Mantis but I’ve heard great things.

The Tim P Comps are the best I’ve personally heard ITB. I had a real “I didn’t think ITB could sound like this” moment when I first tried them . . . There’s no going back.

He has a few that could put a smile on your face depending on what flavour you’re after. 100a V3, OPTO 3a V3, L-bus Comp, Blue Mu Comp/Limit V2, U76 V3 . . . All bargains. It wouldn’t surprise me if a few people sold off a piece or two of hardware after hearing these. :P

Hey Will,
was it Tim’s 100a that made your heart stop when you first heard it? Or was it the opto 3a?
can’t remember which one you had mentioned to me.
Cheers
Peter

While all Tim's comp are nice, it was his Opto 3A that was a game changer for what an ITB comp should be IMHO. You can pull down 20 db on low end material while never loosing the body, just like the hardware does.

You know Will, any tourist might mention Hofbräu, or Löwenbräu, but only the homies know that Augustiner is the real McCoy ;-)

While I did take my wife to Wiesn last year as a tourist and we had a great time in München, I actually grew up in Germany with 6 years in Prüm and 3 in Hessisch Oldendorf, so I have the inside info on Augustiner, lol.

The best beer in the world is the belgium Saint Stephanus one ; it is much better to consume it as a draft beer than with bottles, although there are not many bars in the world which have it.
A totally unbelievable beer, supreme.

Uh, the topic is "Nebula must have", why am I talking about beers

Yes but Augustiner vom Fass! ;-) It is the purest most direct path to sample. A must have! ;-) Just put it on anything and it turns to GOLD!

Beer was the driver of the agricultural revolution. Not food. Our ancestors had their priorities straight.

Without beer there would be no Nebula.

Good news. TimP has just updated Classic Blue 1102 EQ to v2

Thanks to Tim for his constantly amazing work and generosity.

Yeah baby! Shame though, I just ditched my hopeless arguing session vocalist. Need to start again on that. I'll play with Blue v2 while I wait.

Had a super brief play with B1102 V2 last night. Distortion/saturation seems excellent so far, definitely feels like your pushing into and bending hardware. Retains dynamics and depth beautifully!

Totally agree. This distortion knob is incredible and a first time for me in Acustica world.
The EQ is also very rich, large, warm and deep.
This might become my new go to EQ.

I havent tried the high shelf yet but the low shelf is strong and very effective.

On a drum bus, it really beef up everything and make them come forward the right way in my little test yesterday night.

Highly recommended.

Only the officially licensed third party libraries work in N4 free.

I love TimP stuff but as an owner of Gold acqua, will this be a similar sound?
