I use a lot Cytomic The glue, BF76, Purple MC77 and McDSP stuffs on drums...
But for "in your face" purposes i prefer McDsp CB4 in OverEz mode...or...

...a free plugin called Flattery! It's very "snappy" and aggressive.

Another great compressor on percussive sound is Blockfish from Fish fillets...really useable for the task.

Imho

while i do love the rocket, i cant seem to get the spongy feel out of it that i like. the CLA gets that.

The release in the Rocket is weird.. can't use it, the impetus can give some grit but, meh..

I like the CLA compressors less and less, the "blue stripe" is just too "harsh" most of the times,
i prefer the black face on pretty much everything when in digital, but none of them are my first choice on the drumbuss

When ITB I prefer the API 2500 followed by Decapitator or URS Sat (15ips or 30ips algo),
Softube Dynamite, and occasionally their FET (much better than the CLA76 for me) for snare.

CL1B for Kick, no doubt for me, I also like the freebie Ferric as first plugin on kick, it helps quite a bit,
but the CL1B is just unbeatable on kick for me

Sometime I found the combo Kramer HLS+Pye compressor to be just killer for angry drumkits,
with the HLS in "Line" mode, eq disengaged but the preamp cranked up to 50/60,
the Pye can both compressing a bit of just distorting (ratio 1:1, threshold almost all the way down and fast release)

The trick on these kind of drums tho', is the processing on the single channels..

I know this flies under the radar but the Waves H-Comp is one thick sounding plugin compressor. Couple that with Softube Tubetech Pultec eq and you got a serious kik and snare.
