I have way too many volume options, how do i keep them all under control??

I run sonar hs xl7 and i use a tascam us-800 interface, and im having trouble keeping all my audio under control. When i record the audio i have the volume option on screen next to the gain and panning, but i also have the volume knob on my interface. In addition to that i have the monitor and headphone volume on mt interface, as well as several master volumes, one for the interface on screen and one on screen for the mix. I have so many different volume options that after a while it seems like a adjust so many settings unnecessarily, im thinking maybe i should just worry about volume at the end and patch it all together at one time? Is this so cause if thats the case i would rather by a mixer than do everything on screen?

Ideally you want to keep all your mixers set to unity so that they're not adding or attenuating any gain along the stream, then use the gain on your interface to adjust to your desired recording level. Then use your last volume knobs (headphone or monitor controls on your hardware) to adjust playback volume.
