PT9/Win7 crashes

Here's the problems we're having:

- PT goes not responding during lauch during 'Setting up Midi' and will eventually recover
- Once that's done it will go not responding for like 5 seconds after the splash screen goes away

If those were the only problems we were having, I'd be able to deal with that.

- PT pretty much non stop goes into "Pro Tools has stopped working" and will not recover. This happens when opening sessions (immediately after the session opens, or sometimes during loading overviews.) This happens frequently.
- Random things will cause PT to stop working (saving, well pretty much anything)

It's weird, certain sessions will open fine and some instantly crash. Btw, tested these sessions on the old protools 8 machine and they load.

So PT9 is installed on an internal SATA drive. It was previously installed on an internal SSD. I figured that may have been part of the problem so I un/reinstalled on the SATA drive.

specs: GIGABYTE GA-X58A-UD3R, i7-950 Bloomfield 3.06GHz, 6GB CORSAIR XMS3, EVGA GeForce GTS 450, Intel X25-M 80gig SSD, 640gig WD Black(Pro Tools drive), Windows 7 Pro

Using a 003 rack+. We're currently using a firewire 400 external drive (3ft cable), which I know you're not supposed to but these same problems persist even when copying the session to an internal sata.

The user I'm logged on as is in the admin group. I've also tried running it as the admin as well.

Also figred I'd add, it's a fresh install of win7 and there's no cracked software on the comp. If it makes a difference, the only two plug ins I've installed are autotune evo(iLok authorized) and drumagog 4.11a authorized via unlock code.

Any help would be super appreciated. We've gone from a working studio to a dead halt. Thanks in advance!

SiSoftware Sandra report.

Did you install the new Digi 003 drivers from Avid website? They are not included in the PT 9 software installation.

Not saying this applies to you or anyone, but PT is very specific about PC setups and components and many ignore this fact. PT has been very stable on Mac's and qualified PC's or they would been finished long ago. Especially on the professional level where time is money.

Ya I know what your saying, it is a very picky program but I have used PT before on this PC before I switched to cubase and it ran fine, its since PT 8 that everything has went to hell...well for a few of us!!
