Hi Keire

I used to use the Magma series and they work very well.
Don't know if they are continuing to support, be careful to check the Magma website.

And, really don't know how you would implement bare pci board into your computer system.

Good luck
Scott

I'm on PC.. But I built a new PC which of course had more PCIe but not PCI. I own 3 UAD1's.. Haven't upgraded to UAD2 yet.

So in order to keep using them. I took my old SBS 13 slot expansion chassis off my old G4 Mac used for my Pro Tools Mix System.. Which I never use now. And hooked it up to the new PC and works perfect.

I will move to UAD2 eventually but for now this helped save some money.

I thought of using my second (older) PC for that but no idea how to do it. I have 2 PCI slots in there doing nothing so is it just a matter of linking the two machines? What do I need to do/buy?
Magma PCI expansion stuff is way too expensive for my budget
Cheers

Well look for a used SBS. I got a 7 slot.. Back in the day for $400. Then when our Pro Tools system need more cards.. We got a SBS 13 slot for about $500.

Look used for sure.. There is a way to use old PC's I think I seen. But I have no idea how to or how well it will work. SBS isn't supported by UAD. But they said if it works then cool.. And it does and never had trouble...
But the Expansion chassis have a lot of noise (fans) I have mine with my PC in a ISO Box.

selling my 13slot magma chassis with PCI en PCIe host card. You can add 13 pci cards and/or extra harddrives. Has always worked flawless on my G5. PM if interested. If you like I can add 2 Powercore cards and VSS3.
