Help me with a new CPU & Motherboard for my DAW

Hello computer experts,

I am going to be upgrading the CPU and MB of my current PC Audiolabs DAW and could use some help in finding something that will be an improvement (CPU power) over my current setup.

Currently I have:

Two 2.66GHz Quad-Core Intel Xeon E5430 (8 cores), a Tyan Dual Xeon Motherboard, and 8GB DDR2-667 RAM.

"Mr. Scott, I need more power!" I will upgrade to 12 gigs of RAM and plan on installing 1 or 2 SSD drivse to go along with my 4 other 1 gig each 7200RPM drives.

Any help and suggestions would be GREATLY appreciated.

Thanks!

I have no idea why you'd want to upgrade such a powerful system.

i would upgrade to a 970/980 SINGLE processor. these 2 even outperform dual Xeons (new) up to 2.8GHz.
12gig DDR3 1600 (3x4gig)

OK, I just learned that the 980 extreme is 6-core. For $999.99 it had better scream! Anyone use one in their DAWs here?
