:request input: on new version of X1 vs Samp11 Standard

Would appreciate some thoughts on a bit of a dilemma I find myself in.

I was about ready to purchase Sonar X1 Studio (I can get it for $170.00 with a Guitar center coupon of $30.00)

I like the way X1 looks from what I've seen so far and the potential.

Now the Dilemma,

I still have X1 on hold at GC and honestly am still mulling around the thought of paying another $80.00 and getting Samplitude 11 Standard. (Crossgrade to Samplitude 11 Standard from Cubase is $249)
(There isn't that much difference between Samp standard and pro for the additional $250.)At least not for me

Samp 12 won't be out for 3/4 of a year at the earliest) 7/12/2010

I know X1 has some teething pains but I believe it will become more solid after some patches but on the other hand, Samplitude 11 is already one awesome application, The fx are great (tested the demo)the sound is great and the price @ $249 seems reasonable.

But, if Samp 12 is coming out in 7/2010, (no I don't want to wait till then)
The developement of Samp11 will be coming to an end, although that shouldn't matter in that the app is pretty solid.

I do like the new design in X1 and the drag and drag and drop and the fact that it is in the beginning of the development cycle....

So, there you have it. I have X1 on hold till Fri.

Appreciate any thoughts!!

HI

In X1, what drag and drop feature are you referring too?

Bought upgrade from Sonar 8.5.3 and it's awful itself. Sonar X1 very unstable DAW at this moment !

Read Cakewalk forums before you consider.

Personally I'm not having any major problems, but a LOT of people *are* and what is even more unnerving is that even the long time users are complaining big time.

They just released a fix pack but it seems that it has hosed ASIO support for some people and created additional problems as well.

The Cake forums are a blood bath at the moment with the "form campers", aka fanbois, trying to hold up the gates of the Bastille as the peasants storm the place.

Isn't going to Samp Standard a step down from Cubase?

The Prochannel only comes with the X1 Producer version I believe.

If you are into dragging and dropping, you might want to try Presonus Studio One.
You can literally drag and drop just about anything onto anything else.
Very intuitive IMHO.

Like wo1 said, check out the Cake forums first before getting out the credit card.

I've been following the cakewalk boards religiously since the X1 release.

I don't think Samp is a step down from Cubase at all.

I actually think it is a step up from my limited experience with the demo

Samplitude is a complete DAW

record - Midi/audio
Object based editing.
Edit (a fantastic wave editor) with a full set of Cleaning and restoration tools
Mix - incredible built in plugins
Master ( A real mastering program)
CD-DVD creation. (full PQ and index markers and sub marks)

There is a version comparison sheet at Samplitude.com and all versions have the same audio engine as Sequoia. Goto my youtube channel, there I have all about Samplitude
