touch screen monitor for mac pro?

Does anyone know of a good multi touch display to use as a secondary monitor for a mac pro?

bump

I've read a lot about multi touch displays being used with Windows 7 but can't find much info on using them with Macs. Anyone know if they work or can suggest any good displays to use as secondary monitors with a Mac?

some options:

one is the mimo touch screens over usb, they range from really small to 10"
Mimo Monitors - Welcome

touch screens with drivers, kinda pricey:

troll touch, really pricey:
Troll Touch Products

daw touch:
DAW touch screen

music computing:
MotionCOMMAND
(for mac there's apparently only one touch at a time for now)

xenarc:
Xenarc Technologies - Product Index

and lastly this mysterious software called itm touch bridge:
MIXAGE

an itm touch bridge is a kind of usb controller used by some manufacturers but i can't seem to find an exhaustive list of monitors that have these. i don't want to buy a dell or hp touchscreen monitor and be the guinea pig.

there's another company that sells like a $400 driver for touchscreens for mac but i don't remember what they're called.

my personal thoughts on the matter are that apple is going to release lion in a few months which will have more of a touch friendly interface. this could be good or bad depending on preference.

then, if i may speculate wildly, they might release something like an imac without the stand with a touch screen. dunno what size screen but it seems possible.

lastly, i'm guessing if/when they release the lightbridge technology they'll have a touch screen display with one elegant cable for their elegant lion software and call it magical, revolutionary, etc etc

again, just guessing but i do know that stevo is enamoured with video editing and everything on ipads. its just a matter of making things useful/powerful enough for the creative pro community

There are a number of ipad apps in the App Store which allow you to mirror the apple screen on your ipad and allow you to control the computer from the ipad touchscreen. My favourite is Air Control, but there are several.

I use V-Control Pro with logic it's a dedicated DAW controller with a V-Window feature that allows you to display and control anything on your desktop.

There's a limited demo at the app store.

As far as I'm aware, OSX doesn't support multitouch yet, so your search may be in vain.

The Slate Raven utilizes multitouch on Mac OS through a proprietary software layer. However, if you are actually working in the DAW view, it is single touch.

The best way yet to control your DAW in a natural way is to use special DAW multitouch controllers, like Lemur or Touch OSC, with custom layouts, but AFAIK V-Control works great with PT. I'm saying this because i'm kind of touch interface fan ))

Most of us dreaming about native multitouch support in our favourite DAWs (and plugins), but this will take a while. You need a fully adapted new GUI for almost every single piece of usual software, as it was not mentioned to use with your fingers, which like a sausages compared to cursor. And usability of current software is not made with a finger touch in mind.

The good alternative these days is custom layouts for Lemur/Touch OSC, which can bring you on a completely different level of working with DAWs. The lab i'm working in is specialised somehow on multitouch interfaces, and i'm being a specialist in this department can tell you, that this is the most advanced way to work with a DAW today.

I think this may sound a little like a promo, but i'm really want to share this message with a many people which want to work with instruments they use in a more natural way than using a single pointer on a screen.

In a couple of weeks i'll release custom Lemur interface for Reaper, which supplement most desirable functions of a DAW on a touch screen - you can control all classic tracking parameters including solo/cut/arm/input monitoring/sends/pan etc., all things about plugins including all parameters and bypass, real K-system color-coded metering, and all this with a real world feedback - all parameter values and names in plugins (including track names in Reaper) are displayed as they are, like "knee - soft" or "Attack - 20mS". Think of it like an advanced multitouch Mackie-control on iPad.

As a sound engineer which prefers to work with HW units because of instant feedback and complete control i think this is a good controller, i use it in my studio testing it's usability, and the only thing i wish is that every DAW could have this freedom of control as Reaper have now.
