Best external hard drive for recording audio? DAW Software

Exclamation Best external hard drive for recording audio?

I'm running Pro Tools 8 LE on a decent Dell with 12 GB RAM. I've optimized Pro Tools for low latency and high availability of cpu power and whatnot. Yet, when I use a bunch of plugins I get the prompt that Pro Tools is having trouble getting audio from/to the drive fast enough or whatever.
Now I know I have to get an external that I'm going to record directly to, instead of my 1TB 7200 in my tower. Should I go ESATA, USB 3.0 or Firewire 800? I recently read some stuff that says USB 3.0 blows all of them away. What do you think?

Put 2 Velociraptors SATA III/600's in RAID. Never look back.

Yes, USB 3.0 blows all away

I don't think Pro Tools 8 supports RAID configurations (at least not officially).

I usually just use OWC Mercury Elite Firewire 800 drives, they work perfectly - they also support ESATA (but not USB 3 yet).

Glyph has worked well for me. The one time the drive failed, Glyph promptly sent a new one overnight via Fedex.

Not many other companies provide that type of service.
