EMT 250 emulation

Is there any good EMT 250 emulation for ProTools except UAD and Acousticas? (Does it have to be RTAS for ProTools?)

Emptyroom will soon release a MAC VST/AU version, will that be compatible with ProTools?

Sorry if I missed something, but why not just use the UAD one?

I think you can get impulses for TLspace. Not sure, don't have PT in front of me.

Does TLspace need less processpower than Altiverb?

I use it for small room excitement at times but doubt it comes close to the original. UA has a video interview with one of the original designers who explains it wouldn't have been possible without his help and the schematics (provided by him). Lot's of randomness and such that IR's don't cover well. They promise it's the closest replica.

Okey, I see... Have you tried emptyroom 250 as well?

I just got the demo to compare to Altiverb. Parts of UA's 250 video have dry portions so I recorded those to have a straight comparison to the UA.

Seems like the Altiverb nudges out the Emptyroom. Not by a lot and the Emptyroom 250 is a meager price. Hard to knock but the UA has a better effect (who knows how faithful it is) and an impressive chorus effect and more. But you have to buy the UAD card(s) to get it. I've been tempted and their 140 plate is nice.

Yes I have the UAD cards and own the Plate 140, it`s fantastic. But now I need some native plugs for some work I do...

So Altiverb 250 IR is better than emptyroom?

Well the UA plugin algorithm is identical to the original. They got the original EMT250 engineer to help out with this plug.

IR's do miss the randomisation that is going on with an algorythmic reverb. In the EMT-250 these randomizers play an important part in the sound quality. There are a lot of them in these reverbs: time variant modulations, amplitude modulations, feedback modulations and more. It tooks years to get as close as we got. Please listen to our soundsamples on our website or try the demo for PC VST. We are currently working on the mac version.

The additional algorithm has got less deep obvious modulations, so the EMpTy 250 reverb can be used for more then the typical EMT-250 sound.

I felt like the Altiverb was a bit better using UA's dry versions to compare. Running an entire mix through a tight room was more like UA's example to me. They are both very similar though.

The UA version is not exactly the same as the HW EMT-250. Warp 69 files showed that. They are close but not exacty the same.

Altiverb emt 250 is awesome!! quite subtle kind of reverb, really natural sounding.. great for vocals. kind of gives you an ephemeral feeling around the sound

Yes, ERS EMT 250 is gorgeous !!

ERS 250 and Valhalla DSP Room are the two algorithmic reverbs I feel comfortable to use after I knew of nebula reverb....

Not exactly but I think it's worth noting that the Little Plate from Soundtoys is an EMT 140 emulation and it's one of my favourite reverbs.

for anyone who doesnt know - a 140 sounds nothing like a 250.

So any EMT 250 plugins anyone likes?

thanks.

I don't know if there are other plugins that emulate the EMT-250, but I do know there are EMT-250 impulse responses out there if you want to use an IR reverb.

sadly only VST / AU

I need AAX for ProTools, and dont want to use a VST wrapper.

Yesterday I checked out the Altiverb IR of the 250 and it is ok. Not as amazing as an original 250, from what I remember of how it sounded.
