I've been using the Motu 896HD for a year with absolutely no problems. However, last time I was working, and playing the session in Cubase SX 2...the sound stopped and the Master ST meter froze fully lit up. It was as if the MOTU had disconnected and the software meter was frozen. A restart did the trick, but it happened again two or three times.
What could possibly have caused it?
Does it sound like the 896HD's fault.... or a software error? I do recall having trouble with a Sonitus compressor plugin that I rarely use. The plugin reported an error and actually wouldn't allow me to open it and adjust any of its perameters. But I left it in the track as it was, because I already had it sounding the way that I wanted. Could the plug have triggered it?
I really try to not get sucked into technology too much...I don't like to focus on the really technical part.
PLEASE help. Any ideas or advice will be greatly appreciated.
Thanks.
Do you have a firewire pci card or is the fire wire on the motherboard?
Reason I ask is because on my home pc with a P4 2.8ghz and a $30, 3 port firewire pci card I have never had a single issue, even an Ibm P3 500mhz Laptop i was able to do 4 tracks of 96k for 16 hours with out a single hiccup. But i did a session once on someone else's pc and it lost connection and from Sequia in the middle of tracking, and I had to reboot twice.
