cubase 5: can't find where my track presets are stored...
i've posted this problem over at cubase.net and no one has had any luck helping me so i thought i'd try here.
I have created several track presets that i have saved. I can recall them in Cubase's load track preset menu, but i cannot find where they are stored on my computer. This is becoming a problem as my list of track presets has become huge and it is taking quite a while to sort through them.
i've looked in media bay, rescanned all my folders, searched the computer for the actual file names etc...and they do not show up anywhere! i'm thinking that somehow my cubase 5 is not saving my track presets in the normal way. here is a link to the thread at cubase.net so you can see what all i've tried already: Cubase.net .:::. View topic - How do you delete track presets?
i've tried all of the suggestions made in this thread and have had no success.
your help is greatly appreciated.
ok i just spent hours trying to understand this now i do, i will tell anyone else as I see Elvis is on the right track now over at the cubase forum,
Do NOT SAVE TRACK PRESETS in the mixer, instead right click on the track in the arrangement and click create new preset, that will store it in the right place along with all the other media presets under :
C:\Documents and Settings\USER\Application Data\Steinberg\Track Presets\Audio
The mixer store preset mode is just a text file, its different and unstable, it doesn't always remember your settings, don't use it.
C:\Documents and Settings\USER\Application Data\Steinberg\Cubase 4\Presets\InsertsFolderPresets.pxml
Hi Tringboy, I'm having a similar problem as Elvis. My presets just disappear into thin air.... nowhere to be found in that awful "Search & Finder / Browser & Filter" page.
I've tried using that Tag Editor thing, creating a new folder, looking around in all of the Steinberg program file folders, everything. However, I do know that my presets are being stored somewhere. I know because I'll save my preset with a certain name... say, "Deep Chorus", (then the preset will disappear, of course). But if I go to save another preset with that same name, I get a message telling that the file already exists.
I don't have this problem with all of my plugins, only the ones that store presets using the Cubase native "Search & Finder / Browser & Filter" filing system. That thing drives me nuts!
I'm not sure I understand your solution. I have to first right click the track?
