Relab LX480 Reverb/Delay Processors (HW)

Alphorn loves LX

I couldn't resist introducing the LX to an Alphorn I recorded lately (KM84 -> SSL G+ -> Digi192 -> Pr*T**ls).

I still haven't compared the LX with an hardware 480, but my bet is I am gonna spare quite a lot of money ;-)

Wow, I can't wait to hear more. Its like the evil version of the PCM bundle. Definitely a must buy, sits in a track great. I honestly don't use the random hall on the PCM bundle as it comes off a little flat. This one doesn't. Really a great space.

I'm really looking forward to hearing what the rooms sound like. I really like the PCM rooms, but miss that grainy quality of the old Lex. This will definitely deliver.

So where do you access the "hd" algos? I can't find it.....

Edit, nevermind. Found it.

Never even liked the PCM96, too vanilla to me... sorry...

These examples sound great, even at mp3. The personality is there.

Hi ElBlindo,

If you the mean file browser then yes. We just use the OS based file browser.

The PCM Room algorithm is a specific PCM96/92 algorithm. The 480L doesn't have a Room algorithm as such. The Room algorithm from PCM96/92 is related to the Random Ambience from the 480L, but they don't sound alike.

UPDATE:

Relab has a new build of the plugin (V1.00b2) that will fix most of the issues experienced so far (except for the VST wrapper problem).

We'll be sending out the V1.00b2 installer over the course of the next 24 hours.

Good to see them taking care of these issues so quickly.

Why not announce it now? What have you got to lose?

This is the main reason I've been holding off with the purchase of the PCM bundle... If this is as good as people are already saying, I'll probably go with this one... price pending of course.

Doesn't count.

Not spending one dollar on a VST plug-in, or one CPU cycle on a VST wrapper.

Can't blame you for not supporting PPC, but RTAS? Come on. Either this product is for the pro market or it isn't.

RTAS will be supported. PPC will not.

This really sucks for some of us Digi PTHD power users( I have 2 full blown out PTHD systems on PPC macs at the studio).

More and more we are being excluded and tossed aside.

Not to mention no TDM versions of anything.

Will this plug run off a Mac Lap top? It maybe worth it just to get a laptop to run it off that and have the plug in be almost and external processor.

Maaaan, I hear ya. A couple weeks ago I bought 4 copies of Alicia's Keys piano and realized only after they came in that I couldn't run it on two of our machines. Both are PPC - it requires Intel. Stupid error on my part, and I even knew they needed the latest version of Intel-only Kontakt, but I've gotten so accustomed to the days when everything was Intel AND PPC that it was under my radar.

I'm anxious for the RTAS version.

There's been a lot of tight integration between you and this product since the thread bagan. It's feeling like you're the exclusive retailer for this product. Is that the case?

I had to look up your acronym in the Urban Dictionary.

I guess we'll have to wait longer for the price. It was stated probably a few hundred posts ago that the price was set from the beginning, IIRC... oh, well.

This thread is as full of secrets as the monolith is full of stars. I have to say, I'm not inclined to demo something without knowing it's price. If it's inexpensive, I'll buy without demoing. If it's out of my price range, I'll skip the demo and the purchase.

Having said that, I guess this public beta thing is a bit different. So, I'll probably just wait until it's actually for sale, or at least until the price is published.

We will support RTAS directly when we get Digi developer status.

The DSP's in the current TDM systems are unfortunately not powerful enough and we'll therefor only support RTAS.

Regarding PPC - this is explained earlier in the thread. We use Intel specific instructions (SSE - SIMD) in our plugins.

Tony is a key, if not exclusive, retailer for many plugin developers. In this case Tony is the exclusive retailer for this product.

Tony is to be commended for making it possible for Relab to move up the retail chain and make a little bit better wage for their fantastic effort.

Of course and i understand.

My comments were not directed at you in anyway and more at the state of plug in developments in general. Its pretty much a done fact that the hard core Digi PTHD users are viewed as a dinosaur of the past unfortunately.

One question though is can the LX480 run of an Mac Intel laptop and how many instances will i be able to get at once? I am looking into picking up a mac lap top now and this plug may just push me over the edge in terms of purchasing it.
