It should be available for sale/ demo sometime between Christmas and the NAMM show.

Damn! Go Warp69!

For those of you who haven't read the whole thread, here's a summary:

- New mystery plugin sighted
- It is apparently a 480L-esque reverb
- Casey (of Bricasti, & ex-Lexicon) has heard it, and thinks it sounds very convincing
- It should be released between Christmas and the NAMM show
- Relab will be releasing the plugin under their own name. This is a big deal, as Relab/Warp69 has created a few highly respected reverb plugins (CSR, SSL X-Verb) for other companies.

No price announced as yet.

My question is how technically will this be different from X-Verb? Different algos?

X-Verb is a SSL reverb, not an emulation of the 480L.

The algorithms will be different.

I'm def. looking forward to this 480L emul.

I don't think the Lexicon bundle is for me, it sits on the fence too much for my own personal taste.

I want character in my reverb FX, so I love my EMT250 emul. for vocals and I have some nice 224XL impluses (though I wish I had the real thing or an algo emul.) then for rooms and virtual spaces I like the technical reverbs from TC, VSS3 and hopefully VSS4. I can create very believable ER stuff with the TC plugs.

This mystery plugin could be the older style vibey Lex sound I'm missing.

Trite as it may be, I love the look of the GUI too.

Question

So, there are 4 days to go. It was said this will be released before the end of the year. Will it? Huh? At least a demo? Insert another annoying question here?

It was stated earlier in this thread that it would be released sometime between Christmas and the NAMM show. I would expect closer to NAMM (which is two weeks away).

This math doesn't really work does it. You want character in your reverb, but TC verb works better than Lexicon for this purpose??? No, that's backwards.

Compare the Random Hall in the Lex verb with anything in VSS3 or 4. No comparison. Character vs. Clinical. Fantasy vs. Stark Reality. Sam Kinison vs. George Plimpton.

I think what you meant is that you like TC in your reverb FX. If you like character you'd be on the other side of the fence.

Elambo I meant exactly what I said. Exactly. Older style "FX reverbs" for character parts - TC's reverbs for virtual spaces - I understand exactly what I'm saying - I have no interest in funky, vibey - spinning modulating rooms!

Yes the maths works perfectly - you may express YOUR opinion DO NOT put words into my mouth thank you very much.

I prefer the UA EMT250 (original alog's from Dr Blesser) on vocals and percussion - there is nothing in the Lexican bundle that comes even close for my music and the way I like to mix.

I PERSONALLY prefer TC reverbs for creating spaces, I can create spaces every bit as good as the Lex native rooms with the TC VSS3 when VSS4 comes out in jan 2010, the lex bundle will for me, be blown out of the water - as IMHO VSS4 is a different class. Period.

I personally find the lex bundle to lack depth - lot's of L-R but not much 3D (again just MHO - don't let it rock your boat)

I say again for me personally the Lex bundle sit's on the fence too much - it's neither one thing nor the tother. I prefer my "FX" reverbs to have more charater and for virtual spaces I prefer TC reverbs especially the VSS4 which is utterly fantastic and hopefully soon to be available for PoCo !

Now back OT - really looking forward to hearing the 480L emul - I'm sure it will be right up my street as it's a great Reverb "FX" in the true Lexicon tradition.

Best
