Tubefire 8 and m-powered protools

Hi.
Im considering the ART tubefire 8, read plenty of things about it and think it would be good for me.

One problem! M-Powered protools!
I know m-powered protools wont take it straight up, so i need some advice on what my options may be.

right now I'm thinking chaining it through the M-audio firewire solo might do the trick.
With the two firewire sockets it'd allow me to chain it in through the m-audio box.
it would still run me 24bit.96khz, would allow me to monitor through the box instead of returning into tubefire channels.

Can anyone confirm if this would work or what the pitfalls of that may be?

Also I'm currently using the m-audio projectmix i/o.
Its a nice big box, but i think all the faders and buttons are wasted on me(too much time spent using protools without) so when it comes to shipping this to the various locations I work in its just cumbersome. for example planing it the other month was a pain in the ass.
plus i dont particularly like the pre-amps.

do you agree that the tubefire 8 would be a step up in pre-amp quality?
