Anyone using the NEW mac mini's for PT?

Hi,

I am in desparate need of an upgrade from my G4 Dual 1.25 but have very limited funds. I'm curious to know any performance specs i.e., trk counts and plugin counts with PT LE. I usually have upwards of 30 tracks to mix, usuing the MP tool kit.

Thanks again.

30+ audio tracks with plug-ins shud not be an issue as even my Dual 2.3 G5 can handle that.
Softsyntsh take a bit more CPU resource so i freeze.
Make sure u get 4GB Ram, and a FW hard drive for audio.

Am sure someone will give you better details.

Even the original Core Duo mini would smoke your current machine.

Upgrade. You won't regret it (unless you intend to use PCI cards).

Yes, unless u have a PCI audio interface, u can upgrade and enjoy life. Use freeze and intelligent plug-in use and u'll be just fine.
Make music, save money and buy a Mac Pro!!!!

Best of luck!

Hey Jake not sure if you know (because "Apple" isn't advertising it!) the 2009 minis can be upgraded to 8 gigs of ram.(2- 4gb sticks) .They ain't cheap (around $450) but the upgrade path has changed a lot.

I have a 2006 1.66GHz CD and it maxes at 2gb.I'm going to add a new 2.53GHz(the BTO 2.66GHz doesn't seem to add much for the extra $150)...and of course don't get the 8gb from Apple unless you want to pay double!!.

I started a thread on the 2009 Mini with Logic - not PT but might give you some general pointers: Mac Mini (v.2009) for Logic-based project studio
