yep, like the duct-tape on the uad-2 (that holds the 4 cards together) was getting too hot and catching fire . . . . . . . . .

At this point I would be simply stunned if the launch isn't October AES. Speechless. It would mean something went very awfully wrong in late beta.
Yeah, there wasn't anything on Sweetwater... or any other vendor I checked. The "leak" was probably due to Guitar Center's crack team of world class employees.

Actualy, wouldn't it be completely unbelieveable if all those UAD-2 listings were for interfaces?

And the UAD-2 Nevana 128 actually offered 128 channels of MADI i/o???

Whhhoooollllley **** batman everything would change.

(Of course, I really do doubt it, but if those included DSP and digital i/o for those prices the entire industry would be remade in UA's image within days.... )

Yeah, UAD is working us - the message boards are awash with speculation all day - it's a great hype machine.

Personally, I am very much looking forward to upgrading.

Maybe they use the same decade old tech in their business systems... overnight batch processing and the like.

Somebody probably screwed up at the card punch machine. heh

Seriously though, they must be doing some super-efficient dsp programming.

Is it time for a UAD-3 thread yet?

you'll be more than satisfied with the the direction the UAD product line/plug-ins will be heading in!

what does this mean?

digital mixer like Metric Halos using UAD plugs?

Well think about it, if the goal is total virtualization, then a UAD-2 with 128 ch MADI i/o could form a complete virtual Neve 88RS console with sub-millisecond roundtrip latency, an enormous rack of outboard including vintage neve modules, LA-2A/3A, 1176, Fatso/Distressor/LilFreq, Helios, dbx 160VU, EMT 140, Space Echo etc. etc. All fully latency compensated and runnable in real time.

You would add converters and preamps and monitors and a control surface. UA could supply at least the first two of those too. Not sure exactly about the DAW hookup...but even that could be something as simple as a virtual Studer (with unlimited tracks).

A completely virtualized high-end studio for less than a tenth the cost.

Definitely the direction things are going. And with a huge DSP dongle to make it just right. Damn the natives.

Guessing here...

Looks like card/box with "solo/duo/quad" processing capability?
Flexi might have some plug vouchers?

Looks like they are carrying on with the nevana theme with a 32, 64, 128. My guess is the Nevana comes with the the neve plugs, and 32/64/128 refers to the number of plug instances (though UAD-1 varied wildly on the number of instances from plug to plug).

Hmmm.

Universal Audio UAD-2 Quad Flexi $1,799.00
Universal Audio UAD-2 Duo Flexi $1,199.00
Universal Audio UAD-2 Solo Flexi $799.00

Universal Audio UAD-2 Quad $1,499.00
Universal Audio UAD-2 Duo $899.00
Universal Audio UAD-2 Solo $499.00

Universal Audio UAD-2 Nevana 128 $1,999.00
Universal Audio UAD-2 Nevana 64 $1,499.00
Universal Audio UAD-2 Nevana 32 $749.00

The only question for me is, should I dump the cards on ebay now (like tonight!) or will UA offer some sort of trade in program???

Where are you getting these prices? I don't see these on Musician Friend.

UA must have bitched to MF. No reference is found now.

Crimus... you'd think it was a state secret the way the mods are jumping over at the UA forum... Gimme a break. It's only a frickin' DSP card. Most companies would kill for this kind of customer interest/anticipation in a forthcoming product.

Obviously the hardware is close to being done. So they need some extra time for the drivers & software. No biggie. I don't see how letting out some specs on a "fan" forum would be bad for business.

I don't know if I would believe 2 to 4 weeks as the release date. Many times Musician's Friend and other music sites are wrong with those release dates and sometimes the date is pushed back a couple times.

It seems UA is getting the retailers to pull the listings. Late this morning some of the links started going to "product not found" pages.

The good news is, there will be a UAD-2 in the near future. Maybe a few weeks, maybe a few months, but it's coming.
