How good is Firewire really? Sound difference between Firewire and PCI - PCIexpress

There are more and more Firewire interfaces available, even High End manufactures like Prism Sound are releasing Firewire Interfaces...

But how good is the Firewire bus for getting highend Audio in and out?
I don´t mean stability or latency just soundwise?

Is it a bottleneck or sufficient for highres audio?

What about Jitter and data integrity?

For example: will a good converter like Lavry (clocked internal) sound the same when it is conected via AES/EBU to a Firewire Interface like Motu Traveler or to a PCI (express) card like Lynx AES16????

Does anybody has made some listening tests or knows some science?

If, as you state, you leave out stability and latency (and any other preferences for one over the other) and only speak of sound quality, there is NO difference. Using the dig input correctly clocked, a decent interface transfers audio data to the computer bit-for-bit. No change. Even through 24b fixed to 32bit float, no change.
