New music PC

Hi, I'm thinking of sorting a faster PC out for cubase4 .... I use BFD alot and want to squeezes as much in RAM out as I can... is Vista a better option? and does anyone know of any good MOB and CPU combos that go well with Cubase?

i'm from london....bow bells.
stay away from vista is my advise right now.
acer have a cheap quad core q6600 for 900 buks.
and there aremany others.
(check out this running on a quad sometime..reaper>>>cockos.com)

HI...

I got a Q6600 quad processor
4 gigs corsair ram

ASUS Commando mobo
750 watt powersupply
2 500gig seagate 7200rpm 16 meg buffer hardrives...

windows xp home 32 bit

this machine SCREAMS on Cubase SX3

set aside a dedicated drive i think for bfd samples... you might want to add on 'packs' and i made the mistake once of setting a partition for bfd which then proved not enuff to add expansion packs... at todays low drive prices its prolly worth it... thats alot of space required once you add on a few expansion packs

Just wondering.. is having 4gigs of RAM much of a benefit? ...I was told XP will only use 2gigs??....
