It turns out that you will still run LP7 while running Logic 8.

So, it wont kill all of your song set ups..

FYI.

We WONT be updating BFD 1.x to work with L8 theres to many under the hood changes in the AU spec in L8 to make it worth getting BFD 1.x to work what with BFD2 coming in the near future.

This is all to do with how L8 uses and indentifies multiple output plugins and window management.

BFD stereo should work but some users may find windowing problems.

If developers had been given a lot more notice of this and had we been given beta copies to test before yesterday this issue might not have appeared because we might of had a chance to be proactive and get things working.

As it stands we werent and I can only apologise for any inconvienene this may cause to early adoptors of L8.

Sorry if this is a problem but you can thank apple for changing the goal posts once again.

This is the official party line.

Thank you

As far as I can tell this wont affect all plugins.

Its only affecting the multiple output version of BFD 1.x

Its do with how Logic and plugins declare the number of outputs in use,

A similiar problem occured in logic 7.2 which apple actually fixed and enabled BFD and other mutliple output plugins with more outputs than 16 to work. They have reverted back to a previously deprecated way of doing this in the AU spec.

That said other mutiple output plugins may well work it depends a lot on how they have implemented this aspect of the plugin.

The same problem will affect our other plugins with multiple outputs ie Guru.

Thank you

basically, Will BFD2 open 1.5 setups without additional BFD based channel processing that is supposedly in version 2?
http://www.fxpansion.com/index.php?page=53&tab=149

Either way, that sucks that youa re not adjusting 1.5 to the new spec. there are alot of 1.5 users that would pay a small fee for that...

Hah that dam web page!

Firstly thats just a simple holding page a lot of the information is from BFD1.

The pictures and spec are real though.

BFD2 WILL open all the old BFD1 kits and sounds from original BFD all expansion packs and grooves.

Yes they will sound exactly the same as they did before.

The channel processing you talk of is implemented as a full mixer with inserts and sends for the fx.

So you can either use a little or a lot or none at all.

With all that said and done , after a rather impressive debacle with our users on our forum weve decided to back track on our previous decision.

We will make a version of BFD 1.5 available to logic 8 users at some point in the near future, I cant make any promises as to exactly when but hopefully soon.

Hope this gets met with a smile.

Thank you

most people are so euphoric over the new logic release that they'll forgive 3d party developers like yourselves in light of apple's "element of surprise".

btw, love your vst/AU wrapper, which i use for GRM tools. couldn't live without it!

Tonecontroller is Stylus just working in stereo like BFD or can you get the multi channel to work as well?

Sorry for being unclear in my 2nd post but I don't know, I was asking the question about RMX too. I gather Kontact works fine with multi outs so RMX might be OK - anyone else braved this combination yet?

The reason I havn't installed Logic 8 yet is because I have a shed load of AUs I depend on and I'm in the middle of an album. I can't just carbon copy clone to another drive as it messes up so many of the authorisations so I need to be pretty sure I'm OK before I jump in. I would love to be working on 8 before too long

It seems from reliable sources here and on Sonikmatter that 7 and 8 can peacefully coexist on the same machine.

The only caveat being once you have saved as an 8 project you can't go back

XLN Addicitve Drums works only in Stereo mode. No Multi.

Waves SSL don't pass validation. You still can use them but they are in the "incompatible" folder.

Ok, my bad on the Waves SSL. I just got the upgrade from Waves website. It was a problem with OS 10.4.9.

YEEEHA! :D :D :D

I'm gonna make a bunch of new stuff, which will also work!

Also I can't say too often- if you can test out the multi-node uberDAW thing and run Logic 8 distributed on several computers, please try out my Airwindows plugins in that context- because I consider such a DAW to be one big computer, and encourage people to make as many copies of my plugins as you need to make the nodes work!

Your honor will dictate at what point you need to buy multiple copies of a plugin. Perhaps when you have multiple mix rooms, or are working out of two buildings, or having two guys working at once in different places... the rule of thumb is, you should do what you need to do and if that means using more than one 'authorization' (like two facilities running off copies of the same plugin), come by later and purchase the extra copy to cover what you used :D

Again, NODES DON'T COUNT. I want people to be using my stuff on the new uberDAW distributed Logic systems, at no extra cost
