i agree.... time to hack it up....
it seems pretty different to me. i'm wondering how well it will play with those mackie things.. i'd like an interface that would take advantage of the quick comp thing. that one feature is a protools killer to me.

It's a lot less gimmicky than I expected. I'm actually pretty impressed.

The whole package now is very powerful and incredible value for money.

The redesigned interface seems much more logical and easy to use and this is the biggest thing, for me. Along with the strong new lineup of instruments and effects I think it's the most comprehensive DAW on the market, out of the box.

The new audio editing/tracking/comping workflows look like a HUGE improvement. They've obviously been studying their Pro Tools.

Amongst quite a few gems, this one stood out;

"Use Match EQ to acoustically conform the frequency output of two different audio signals, so your overdubs match the sound of your original tracks even if they were recorded in a different location with different gear."

Like I say, I'm generally pretty impressed.

Makes me almost want to switch to Mac just to use it alongside PT.

Peace

with the minimum requirements, how do you think this will run on a 1.67ghz Powerbook G4 with 1.5gb a ram? Its just a little over the minimum, and I plan on getting a macbook pro, but until then...

I also wonder if I can split processing over both machines-- i know it supports multiple machines, but I wonder if it supports it over an Intel and PPC mac at the same time? You think it would, huh...

Can anyone report on the status of the Hyper Editor? I was hoping they would give it a facelift. Love it for drum programming but damn it's clunky.

Ok, it looks good but the two previous disadvantages to Protools, no delay compensation and no beat detective like function, still seems to be something to dream of. A bit dissapointing I must say.....

i see that logic nodes/distributed processing works with 3rd party plugins too so pro tools is definitely goners!!!!!!

the new feature set is incredible but it's really just bread and butter stuff though it's those things that have been missing.

i think it's amazing though i hope we still have the flexibility of the key commands i see there are loads though still

it looks like logic still though which is nice

Nothing 100% confirmed here, but they do say:

"Direct insert patching of external hardware instruments and effects"

Not a new feature, but it's possibly improved.

"Graphic beat mapping
Easily conform any audio or MIDI track to bars and beats using powerful beat-mapping features. Create tempo tracks based on a selected guide track, or simply drag bar and beat guides to downbeats in an audio file or MIDI region."

I thought someone said that hardware compensation was now included? Were they wrong?

Also, 2 questions for Logic users. Firstly: can you do dual mono plugs? (Like in pt?) Also, can you match bit depths? (Say, for playing back a 24 bit master and capturing it at 16 bits?)

This looks awesome.
