Serious PTLE wierdness when trying to work with HD sessions

Well, this system is usually pretty stable, but as of today it's been going a little nuts.

I just got back from doing vocals at another studio, using their HD system (7.3 I think), and now I'm back at my place trying to get some work done.

I have no problem opening the sessions, and figuring out ways to slim it all back down to 48 tracks, but everytime, after about 10-15 min. the system bugs out.

First the system comes to a hault and gives me the dreaded PTLE message "increase buffer size", but this still happens when I've de-activated all but a couple tracks.

I even tried to open up one of the pre-produciton sessions which should have played back without any issues at all, and got the buffer size error.

Once this starts happening, it's followed by a couple of things

Either it's "Error -50" and won't let me save the session, or after closing the session, it won't let me open it back up again, ang get a dialog box that says "can't open session because magic id does not match"

BTW I'm on a Mac Dual 2.7 running OSX and PTLE 7.1 with the MPTK on an 002R

Hopefully someone can help!

Well, I'm still not sure what the problem was, but it's working now ( wood ). Thank god for "save-as". Just opened the original HD session again, saved it as a different name and all's well. No H/W buffer errors, -50 errors, or the "magic id" thing.

Still curious as to what it might have been though.

Magic ID error usually indicates a corrupt session -- you should use Save Copy In or Import Session Data to create a new session to be safe.
