Exclamation DELL Vostro 1500 probs

I recently got a DELL Vostro 1500 notebook with 2.2GHz c2d, 3GB ram and 160GB 7200rpm HDD,
I also go t a new line6 KB37 (portability reasons).
Anyway when I record/playback audio through the KB37 on the DELL I get intermittent cutouts in sound, like interuptions up to a second long which is horrible when recording.

Anyway I tried the same thing with my Dad's old macintosh ibook (1.3 Ghz, 512mb ram and 5400rpm HDD) and it worked perfectly.

I'm just wondering if anyone else has had trouble with DELLs here, I know my model has an internal soundcard issue but this now seems like a USB chipset problem.
I've heard others have similar problems and to 'FIX' it they disable their DVD drive and everything else imaginable. I don't want to disable half my computer everytime I want to record or playback audio....wtf???

Anyway any help as in previous experience would be great.

I'll probably just get my refund back (still within the 30 days) after they consult their higher techs (I rang this morning) and get the new macintosh iMac with a little extra ram.

stupid Idea to go back to PC, already in 1 week I've rung up DELL a dozen times or so and for 2 years with a mac never rang once.
Big mistake.

Sorry for the length, I'm just frustrated, Matt.

HI,
in a nutshell it will not work no matter what.... in fact no newer Dell will. you need a laptop with Texas Instruments Firewire (which the Mac has)

higher end HPs /compac (biz Class)

Thanks for the informative but not so good news reply.
Once DELL ring me back tomorrow (if they do) I will ask for my refund and return the laptop. Luckily theres a 30 day return policy.

Anyway I'm going back to Mac when I get my money back.
I spent $2500 AUS onommendations the Dell so what do you reckon would be the best mac for that price??

I was thinking the new 2.4GHz iMac with an extra GB of ram.
Or is there any other Mac recommendations??
I don't care about portability now, just as long as it works well with audio.

Cheers, Matt.

Well I raced ahead and rang DELL and went through with the return policy.
I'm getting a full refund so I'm looking at the new iMac now.
I'll wait till I get the money back first.
