Are MOTU interfaces "bit transparent"? (on PCs)

I read something on the Lavry forum a little while ago about certain PCI and firewire interfaces not being "bit transparent" on PCs. Basically, unless the interface's drivers have found a way around windows' internal kernal mixer, the DA is truncated to 16 bit. I believe it's actually still 24 bit audio, but it doesn't make it out of the computer that way depending on the interface.

The guy who brought up this issue said that both RME and M-Audio drivers enable bit transparency, but Lynx cards, for one, do not. I was just wondering if anyone happens to know for sure if MOTU stuff has found a way around this problem.

Thanks,
Bill
