Apples Xserve for DAW?

Anyone using an Xserve for DAW recording? I'm looking to do 48 tracks of live location recording in as little space as possible. Noise and heat are not an issue as it will be in a rack with other servers away from the audio truck. I was looking at the 2-Motu 24 I/O's and the Xserve.

Thanks

Tim
