Apollo x4 or Apollo Twin X Duo

I'm considering upgrading from my Digi 003, and considering buying a UAD Apollo interface along with an Avid Artist Mix.

Is the interface really as good as everyone says they are, and is it true that I can track while using any plugins, or do I have to use the plugins that UAD sells in order to track with it? Is it a lot more stable than say a Focusrite Pro 40?

I know any interface will do, but I'm really about to make that jump into the pro gear. I know I dont need to use plugins while tracking, but I feel like the customer would enjoy it so much more whenever they hear their vocals being tracked through a LA2A. Not only that, but I know how some people like to use autotune while rapping (and not after the fact lol).

The only things I'll buy after this is a new mic, and some gobos. I been feeling like the added stability, and 0 latency is a huge boost. I would never get rid of it (I'm keeping my digi 003 tho, lol).

I appreciate your help in advance.

Any word yall?

I'm about to pull the trigger and buy the Apollo x4. Every video I watch about it just makes me want it even more. They also have a great sale going on. It's just so expensive lol, I'd also have to purchase another mixer to go along with it, but I know itll be worth it.

I would maybe think about the x6 over the x4 for a similar price.

It has the newer clock installed which the two new desktop x's don't and 6 DSP chips.

Is it really worth sacrificing the 2 extra preamps?

Does the clock, and added dsp chips make that big of difference.

Thank you for your suggestion tho, I'm looking into it right now

Just as Jack P said, it has better clocks and more dsp.

Is it really worth it when it only has two preamps? I can just connect my saffire pro 40 with adat..I really wanted the Apollo x4 for portability, not that I would necessarily carry something that expensive around all the time, but I like how much power is in it and how small it is. Do I need the added dsp when I'm only going to be using two preamps compared to the four on the Apollo x4

I did research and saw how everyone recommends the x6 over the x4.

I research every question I ask on here, I just like to make sure I'm making the best choice

Getting the Apollo x6 is worth it imo. I just picked one up like 4 months ago. I don't use all the in/out capability but it's nice to know when I add stuff into my studio I'll have it open for me. Makes the unit a long-term investment. They also cap the DSP with the x6 so going any higher wont give you more DSP.

Hey avidlistener.

I was only recommending taking a look at the x6 as the price is similar.

It all really comes down to what is best for you're needs.

On the x6 you can bypass the inputs and plug in outboard
pres whereas you can't on the desktop, more DSP for mixing
with their plugins, more inputs and outputs, a newer clock, S/PDIF
in and out.

If none of the above is required for you're set up and you're just
looking a portable all in one unit pick up the x4 - the UA stuff is
really well built.

I understand why yall are telling me to buy the x6 now. Its expandable, and the clock are a lot better than the x4. The added DSP is good as well...I dont necessarily need 4 preamps at the moment, and I could always hook another interface up via Adat. I think I just might go ahead and buy the x6. It's not like I should be carrying an expensive piece of gear like an x4 around anyways. I'll also get way more plugins due to the sale going on.

You guys are right, I'll get the x6 instead.
