Best way to optimize external hard rive for audio production?
Hey, been searching the web for a bit to get a clue on how I should be doing this. My iMac is about to die so im going to use my MacBook as my main computer until next years iMac comes out. With that being said I now need to add an external drive to my setup since I think my MacBook Pro has a pretty small ssd. I ordered a Samsung T5 portable ssd. So from what I gathered, all my plugins and DAW should be on my main hard rive, and all my samples/libraries/vst presets should be on the external. What about my projects though? I definitely use the collect all and save function in Ableton a lot so im sure that will start eating up space in no time. What is the best way of doing this? should i save projects to external, or is it best to have my projects saved on my main drive. Any other tips for making this as smooth as possible is greatly appreciated, thanks!
