That Rosanna snare sound

In the past I kinda liked that ring to a snare, but lately I've found myself being drawn more towards functional and less annoying snares. (At least to my ears).

Nowadays I'm almost allergic to ringing snares, especially while mixing

I have BFD3 and SD3 - with only a few expansions because I'm poor - but I almost never find that sound which I often crave. A suttle yet distinct sound without artifacts which could drown the rest of the song. (This is a bit hard for me to put into words).

The other way is a lot easier, when I'm more in the experimental and crazy mood I know exactly where to look and just go mental

But for this kind of snare sound, which VST/expansion would you recommend?

I've googled the actual snare used by Porcaro on this recording, but the answers stretch all the way from Slingerland Radioking, Ludwig, DW, Pearl to Gretsch etc - yeah you know how the story usually goes...

This kit claims to have the real deal, I personally don't think it's close enough.
(Yeah, you could crank up the treble and ad a better reverb - but would it get you all the way?)

PS! I've also - for hints - looked at Porcaro himself https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NMI81yIlT0Q and the isolated claimed original drum track https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-Qq65EJEfk4

To my ears nothing compares to the original

So do you have any better bets than the SDX mentioned library wise?

Man, that Toontrack set doesn't sound very good at all.

Yeah I know, it sounds quite narrow and harsh doesn't it?!
While it lacks the real punch and glue which this song requires.
