VSL Synchron vs VI

I've been out of the loop here for a while and came back to some VSL news and I can't understand any of it. What exactly is VSL Synchron and how is it different to the regular instrument bundles in the past? Is it just new samples? Because I think I saw a cross-grade option to go from the regular bundles to the new synchron bundles. Is it an actual upgrade with new features and improvements or just an additional collection of samples to use? Is it worth switching?

Here for the gear

Synchron-ized titles are Vienna Instrument products that have been ported over into the new Synchron Player which in some cases have some refinements. There are also impulses included so that all the dry recorded instruments from Vienna Instruments which were recorded in VSL's Silent Stage have room placement and sound great out of the box. These impulses can be turned off if one wants them dry like they were in Vienna Instruments player.

Synchron products (not Synchron-ized) are brand new products recorded in the actual Synchron Stage that have mic positions. Both Synchron and Synchron-ized products utilize the Synchron Player.
