Divide the premium you’ll pay for i9 and 64GB ram over 32gb i5, by a factor of 5.
That’s what you’ll pay each year to not have to lie awake at night worrying about it.
Probably around $250 a year - ie NOTHING
Do it.
Plus when you sell it five years later, you'll may well get the premium you paid or more back - the higher specced macs I've sold have always sold more rapidly and for relatively better prices than the lower ended ones.
That value proposition probably starts running out of milage as soon as you start paying the eye-watering amounts Apple asks for multi-tb SSDs. But as far as the stock models are concerned - so long as you've got the cash flow, the i9 is likely to end up being a free upgrade.
