As per title:

Old libraries are supposedly working in SD3 after updating. But will the new ones work in older SD2? If I want to load The Rock Foundry in my old standalone Toontrack Solo for example?

If you scroll to the bottom of the SDX product page it states the system requirements.

Unfortunately, Rock Foundry requires SD3.

I put off upgrading from 2 to 3 for ages. When I finally did I regretted not doing it when it first came out!

Me too. I think part of my issue was upgrading from the original DFH to SD2 that was just $50. Going from SD2 to SD3 was a lot more even with the Guitar Center Holliday discount. (I don't think Toontrack has ever discounted SD3) And a while back Toontrack removed the special upgrade offer. It was one of those "do it now or pay much more later" deals.

Anyway, after using SD3 for quite a while I can understand the high price. I also understand why Toontrack so far as never discounted it....unlike all the other EZ lines.
