MADI daisy chaining cable question

I'm just getting into MADI in my studio. I understand that if I want to daisy chain a few different MADI devices, I need to use simplex optical cables rather than duplex cables, so the ins/outs are free to go to different devices.

My issue is, I can't find a simplex cable any longer than 1 meter. ALVA makes it - the orange ones.

However, there are plenty of longer length duplex cables that look like the connectors aren't molded together like other duplex cables that I already have. They look like they might be able to be pulled apart and used separately as simplex cables.

Are they actually just separate cables that you can just pull apart? Or is it more complicated than that? Anyone know how to get a longer than 1 meter simplex cable otherwise?

buy duplex, one can easily take them apart without breaking the plastic moulds holding them together.

out of interest, which gear are you looking at including in your set up?

You may want to check that the gear has delay compensation so . everything comes in sample accurate.

RME HDSPe MADI
Mytek 8x192
2 SPL Madisons
RME ADI-648 for interfacing with old ADAT gear (might go away)

I know the SPL Madisons do compensate latency based on their position in the chain. Not sure if anything else does. It's not a super big deal for the way we'll be using it.

The RME units do too.
If the Mytek doesn't just have it at the start or end of your chain.

Pardon my ignorance, but can someone explain how to do this? Do you have to squeeze somewhere? I'm afraid of breaking the thing.
