Audio Interface woe's!

Hey Everyone!

I'm wondering if I can get some advice. I haven't upgraded my audio interface for about 10 years now. I bought an Apogee Ensemble (1st gen), back in like '09, and it was used even then. I've been dealing with audio hickups/stuttering during playback for last 5 years or so. It also has insane latency issues.

I'm wondering... Is there a smaller high end interface I can buy that will act as my main workhorse, but that I could also kind of daisy chain or connect to my Ensemble (in stand alone mode), to have extended pre's?

Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks!!
