I can figure all that stuff out, because I have ears, and will.

In my opinion non-dongle alternatives don't quite nail the vibe of the real deal.
Yes, but the dongle alternatives do an even worse job of nailing the "lack of dongle" thing. "Epic fail" as the cool kids used to say.

It's not angst. It's called "having standards." I have lots of standards in life. I won't eat sushi in a shady part of town that has a dollar menu. I won't date a woman with a criminal rap sheet no matter how nice or beautiful she is. And I won't hop in to an airplane with an unlicensed pilot no matter how skilled he is.

Standards.

Not sure how a dongle equates to standards, low or high, but again, sounds like you've got everything all figured out. Good luck with that!

It has to do with how a business operates, and it reflects their values. It's like putting up a giant sign that says "We care less about providing an exceptional experience for our paying customers than we are with (unnecessarily) protecting ourselves from non-paying customers."

I view every dollar I spend as an endorsement and/or upvote for how that provider conducts business. And it's important for me, personally, to reward businesses who conduct business in ways that I agree with.

Not suggesting in any way shape or form that you should think the way that I do. But since we're now waxing philosophies and concepts. My philosophy is, use the tools needed to get the job done, and that makes the clients happy. If it's a dongle, computer upgrade, new this or that, I can care less about jumping through a few technical hoops. The end result is the driving factor in everything for me. I really don't feel like I'm doing a deal with the devil by using an iLok key.

A good example is, I have a dual computer system linked via ethernet. One of my computers host's VI's via Vienna Ensemble Pro 6. Without this software my setup would be none existent. Vienna uses a dongle, which is one of 3 that I use for my whole system. Now, if Vienna said that I have to cut off one of my fingers to use their software, that would be crossing the line.

And yes, there's always alternatives. But those kinds of workarounds aren't always ideal. They can be time consuming and inaccurate.

And by the way, I'm not arguing with you. I simply find it interesting to see how others do things. Sometimes I'm baffled by what I read, and other times not. But I'm never judging.. It's really not that deep.

Have a nice day..

True, but we are talking about plugins that require dongles in a thread who's intended focus was on plugins that don't require dongles.

So we're steering pretty far off-topic. As much as I enjoy a good derailment, we're not covering any new ground.

I said I wouldn't "date" her.

Doesn't mean we can't be drinking buddies.

Wait, I'm confused. Do we love dongles or hate them? Which version has the POW?
