Sound Radix Surfer EQ - Use cases? Fast/responsive enough?

Often, when shaping bass sounds, if I can't do further EQ within the sound module itself tied to the note, and need to use (static, note independent) EQ inline afterward, I find myself wishing the EQ were dynamic, so that it allowed the same number of harmonics for each note below a LPF, for instance, rather than cutting off all notes at the same frequency. Of course, to do this, the EQ would need to understand what note is being played so it could raise or lower the filter to match the harmonics of that note.

If I understand correctly, this is what Surfer EQ attempts to do.

Is that correct?

If so, how well does it work? Is it fast enough to react to each note without shifting mid-note? Any other types of distortion generated? Can it handle polyphonic material? Detector work on certain types of sounds, but not others? Melodic monophonic instruments only? Does it sound unnatural on organic sources like voice, acoustic instruments?

Are there other use cases I should investigate?
