Audient ID14 too buggy in Win 10 - Any alternatives out there?

Unfortunately my Audient ID14 won't play nice with my Win 10 laptop, volume/output control stops working at random times and it crashes Ableton. Might partially be the laptop and partially Windows 10, anyhoo. I'm looking for a replacement that has:

- As good or better headphone amp to drive DT1990 PRO 250 ohm headphones.
- As good two channel balanced out and inputs.
- Plays nice with Windows 10.
- Similar price..

All advice greatly appreciated! Buying used also an option.

Have you disabled USB sleep modes in Windows?

Oh yes, today I also disabled two hidden win 10 sleep timers settings: Windows 10 Sleeps Before Set Time - Super User

Still this should not be required..

Did it solve the problem?

I had all sorts of issues when I upgraded Windows 7 to Windows 10, that only ditching that and creating a fresh install of Windows 10 solved. There are all sorts of techsplainers out there that tell you how to optimize. but generally
USB can be very wonky and anything that uses it could be a suspect.

It might be spurious USB voltage in the wrong circumstances. Use a cable with a ferrite suppressor. I doubt any of these are the cause. Hopefully it's not a bad unit. Drivers for W10 aren't really much different than those for Windows 7. Good luck.

We'll see if changing the sleep timers helped - still, sometimes you want to put your computer to sleep and have audio when you come back.

I have the usb ferrite cable thingie.

It didn't help - Windows stopped logging me out overnight, but the Audient still bugs up. See here YouTube
